I abandoned art for the most part after I turned 18 for several years. I had taken art classes in high school, but I thought everyone around me was better and that I wasn’t good enough to pursue it in college. I actually even flat out disliked painting, because I couldn’t seem to follow all the rules/make it look the way my instructors showed in class.
After graduating from college, I saw someone’s artwork online (Pinterest) that inspired me to try watercolor again. I was just going to do it for myself, without pressure of a teacher or my peers to compare it to anything. This was the thing that made all the difference - painting the way I wanted to paint just because I wanted to.
I really encourage you to try something again that you might have given up on. You may surprise yourself in what you’re capable of and what could make you very happy. Painting makes me happy and I am glad I can share that with others.
Today marks my two year anniversary of having a shop on Etsy and so I have all prints and originals marked at 50% off. Take a gander if you’re interested.
